We at St. Thomas see ourselves as part of the body of Christ, with a place for every member in its ministry. We seek to identify those gifts instilled within us by the power of the Holy Spirit, so that we mat serve the Lord in ways that are consistent with our talents. The rector is our parish leader, but the head of our parish is our Lord Jesus Christ. As St. Paul said in his letter to the Ephesians, some of us are called to be pastors and teachers, some to be healers, some to offer wisdom and discernment, some to be musicians, others to offer hospitality and comfort in times of distress, others to just listen and give encouragement . These are different ways of serving, but the same Lord is served.
There are different abilities to perform service but God gives ability to everyone for their particular service. If you are a baptized member of a Christian Church, you are most welcome to receive Holy Communion at our altar. If you are in need of personal prayer for yourself or someone else, you will and a prayer team near the altar following each service. You may wish to go to them immediately after the service and make your prayer needs known to them.
Visitors are welcome at all services and activities and are especially invited for coffee, snacks, and fellowship in the Fellowship Hall right after the 10:30 AM service.
If you are living in the community and would like make St. Thomas your church home, please tell us. Your baptism in the name of the Holy Trinity qualifies you for full participation in the life of the parish. If you have never been confirmed in the church , that is reaffirmed the vows you made or were made for you at your baptism, you may want to learn more about this beneficial rite. Sometimes those who have been confirmed and wish to renew their dedication to serve the Lord and it hopeful to receive the laying on of hands by the Bishop for this purpose. This is especially appropriate for someone who has been inactive or away from church for a number of years. |
